I was driving the other day during my lunch break by my new office and was searching for somewhere I could find a quick bite to eat. After driving for 5 minutes I stopped at a Mexican restaurant. The main reason I stopped by was because it had an interesting robotic advertising tool in front. It was some sort of mannequin that spun the companies logo and special deal on a sign. I had never seen anything like it.
When I went in to order I called over the manager to ask him about it. He told me it was a new marketing strategy they were trying out. He said it was called the sign waving mannequin. He found it online and decided to buy one to advertise their new special on nachos and tacos. It definitely caught my attention!
While I was eating inside I saw that people outside took photos with it and thought it was a great idea. I did some more research in to the sign spinning mannequin when I got home and found out a lot about it. Not only did it make sense as a marketing strategy to use this method, it also made sense from a business perspective to use it.
They cost under a thousand bucks! After looking up how much sign spinners cost online I found that having a sign spinner can cost a company thousands of dollars per month. Why would you spend all that extra money on an employee that would do worse than the robot?
I also found out that the sign waving mannequin can work 24/7. There is model that can be plugged into a socket and work nonstop until you unplug it yourself. The company also offers another model which comes with a battery and can be placed anywhere you want, not being restricted by the need for a socket.
I found a ton of companies turning to this cool new method of marketing. One company even posted a picture of their mannequin wearing a costume! I think this could be a really cool new tool for businesses that want to grow!
